Im looking for some suggestions from any country music fans hanging around here.

I dont listin to alot of country- buts thats been changing farily quickly, and I want to make a cd. But I need some song recommmendations. I have a short list of what im gonna put on it so far, and from it you can probably get a pretty good idea of the sorta stuff I like.

Heres what I have so far...
Sideways- Direks Bently
International Harvester- Craig Morgan
Cleaning this gun- Rodney Atkins
Out last night- Kenny Chesney
Im still a guy- Brad Paisley
I’m gonna miss her- Brad Paisley
What was I thinking- Direks Bently
I love this bar- Toby Keith

So what would you guys recommend?, I need some Ideas ;)

rough and ready - trace adkens
songs about me - " " " ""
some chris ledoux
and hang Jr

In keeping with your selections (relatively current):

Chris Cagle "Chicks Dig It"
Luke Bryan "All My Friends Say"
Luke Bryan "Country Man"
Toby Keith "As Good As I Once Was"
Rodney Atkins "These Are My People"
Josh Turner "Firecracker"
Jason Aldean "Hicktown"
Kenny Chesney "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"

OK, so the last one isn't as current but I still like it for some reason.

Now if you want to go with classics, that's another list.

Small Town USA- - Justin Moore
Sounds Like Life to Me - Darryl Worley
We Rode in Trucks - Luke Bryan
Where I'm From - Jason Michael Carroll
Good Directions - Billy Currington
That's a Man - Jack Ingram
Shuttin' Detroit Down - John Rich
Down The Road - Kenny Chesney & Mac McAnally
It's America - Rodney Atkins
Whatever It Is - Zac Brown Band (Chicken Fried has already been suggested, but it's a good one too)
Brothers - Dean Brody
You Can't Hide Redneck - Tracy Lawrence
Then - Brad Paisley

These are just a few more recent songs that I've bought on iTunes that I'm almost sure you would enjoy based upon your list. Might also try looking into Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, George Strait and Alan Jackson.. and George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Conway Twitty..
I better stop.. You'll be wasting all your time reading my suggestions instead of listening to music!

Awsome, thanks for the great responce guys!
Now I gotta start listining my way through this and narrow down the list- or just make another cd.

I only have country in my mp3 (and a little metallica).

Currently really liking george strait and his album "Somewhere down in texas". i especially like the songs:
1. If the whole world was a honky tonk.
2. Ready for the end of the world.
3. She let herself go.

Everything else I have is mostly various well known older country artists, notable mention to kenny Rogers, Jerry Reed, George Jones and Waylon Jennings.

Too many to list.

Miranda Lambert (Crazy X-girlfriend and Kerosene are both GREAT albums) ...You gotta have Miranda and some Carrie Underwood like "Last name". Toby Keith is, as mentioned, a must fx with American Soldier and Whiskey girl..........
J. -often grinding to country ;)

Whew! What a question!! I'm not up to date at all on country music because I love my oldies and not so oldies too much. So, along with the one's you already mentioned:

Alan Jackson:
Gone Country
Where I Come From
Don't Rock the Jukebox

Garth Brooks:
American Honky Tonk Bar Association
Friends in Low Places (the whole version)

George Strait:
Carrying Your Love With me
All My Ex's Live in Texas
Check Yes or No
*Anything from him really, he is awesome.

George Jones:
White Lightning
The Corvette Song
*Those are my faves, but he's got lots of them...these are my staples though.

Charlie Daniels:
Devil Went Down to Georgia
Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye

Conway Twitty
Lousiana Woman, Mississippi Man (with Loretta Lynn)
Lay You Down
You've Never Been this Far Before

Johnny Cash
* Anything! Just pick one!

Jerry Reed
East Bound and Down
When You're Hot, You're Hot

That's a short list. But they are my oldie but goodie staples. I love 'em. You could also throw in some Hank Jr, Waylon, Willy, and several more. I also really like Sugarland, Rascal Flatts (Mayberry), and Brooks and Dunn.

Good luck, you'll end up with 8 or more CD's if we keep this up!

Josh Turner w/ John Anderson - White noise

This has been covered by others - like Pure Prairie League - but here's the original.

Anything by Marty Stuart from the 90s such as Tempted, Burn Me Down, Little Things, Kiss Me I'm Gone, Hillbilly Rock, etc.

Marty started pickin early and began his professional career at 12. He also played backing guitar for The Man in Black himself.

Another good picker is Vince Gill. He was also with the aforementioned Pure Prairie League fer a spell and did a great cover of Ami

Tanya Tucker ~ Down to My Last Teardrop
Mary Chapin Carpenter ~ Down at the Twist and Shout or anything off of Shooting Straight in the Dark

Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Kevin Fowler, Jason Boland, Doug Moreland, Mickey and the Motorcars, Rick Trevino, Marck Chestnutt, Jamey Johnson, Jason Aldean, George Strait, Hank *any of 'em*, Hell, go to texasmusicseries.com and just look up music from the guys listed. All great stuff and not the pop "country" like tim mcgraw, et al.

I love these posts,dougo83,that TMS website is great,I really like Mickey and the Motorcars,Stoney LaRue and Two Tons of Steel.Back to the OP,the thing with country music is that there are so many sub genres that it's hard not to find something that you like.Outlaw country, traditional country and Texas Swing have always been my favorites,I don't listen to much of anything that comes out of Nashville,I'm not saying that it isn't good music,I just get tired of hearing the same 10 songs played all day long on the country radio stations,I've also found that some of any particular artists best work is never heard on country music radio. There are also some really good country music artists that won't take their music to Nashville,to me,most of the best country music comes from Texas, look around and don't limit yourself to what you hear on the country radio stations,Nashville doesn't know jack about real country music.
