Bored today so I thought I post a couple pics of some recent additions.

Found a 2 dot 110 (440C correct?) in decent shape, ordered in one of the DLT builds in S30v, then a 119 and a 120.

The used ones will all go in for the fluff and buff, which I'm really a fan of. Buck does a great job getting them like new. So I don't mind getting one used as long as it wasn't abused.

Question, how do you guys get that musty smell off the old leather sheaths after they've been packed away for a long time. I'm sure you know what I mean. The sheaths are decent, but don't have that new car smell anymore. Is it just a matter of leaving them outside to air out? Some saddle soap or something?

Anyway, couple pics. Photobucket wasn't letting me upload today for some reason. So you're stuck with the smaller shots. Sorry.

Joe

Very nice Joe. On the sheaths you might try putting them in a ziplock baggie with some baking soda. Or maybe just a dryer sheet.

Both good idea...ill try it. I'll admit I had to look up Obenaufs, but then realized it's the same stuff I buy at Cabelas for my hunting and other boots. It's good stuff. Just always look for the container and never remember the name. Lol. I've the paste right now but I can snag some of the liquid on Monday after my VA appt.

Thanks guys!

Joe, I just used some Ballistol to clean a WW-II vintage rifle sling and to clean my mountain boots - both items are leather, and both had fuzzy, white mildew on them. Worked great. Ballistol smells funky until it airs out. OH

Joe, good hunting. I like that DLT 110. I had the same issues with Photo Bucket on Wed. night. By Thurs. it was operational and normal.? Just keep trying. DM

I bought a NIB 1970's 110 once that must have been stored in someone's musty basement. Had a strong odor to it.
I loaded the sheath and the box up with Arm & Hammer baking soda.
I found a shelf in my garage and set them there.
I'm in Florida, so the garage can be 100 degrees in the summer. I figured the heat might help.
The odor eventually went away, but it took about a year of sitting on that shelf before it smelled good again.

Nice knives! I especially like that S30V 110.
Eric got that one right!:thumbup:
