a flap sheath for a friends buck 110, i really need to bite the bullet and get a better swivel knife im still using my tandy that i got in my kit years ago, im slowly getting better with the tooling, more confident at least
and a holster for my son (18yrs old) i dont dig the whole punisher thing on stuff but he did so there it is, its for his M&P pellet pistol but would prolly work for the real deal. i busted this out in a couple days, kinda tricky molding and not screwing up the tooling
Thanks

Outstanding! They are both amazing in their own ways. :)

Very creative tooling. I particularly like the treatment of both sides of your stitch line on the sheath.

Yeah, the tooling of the sides of the stitch lines looks really cool and seems to me like a great way to improve the border... Really nice. Personally I never cared much for the punisher, except when he killed the whole marvel super heroes, but the holster is really something. Great work.

thank you for the kind words guys, I'm learning and picking up tools as I go along, lotta mistakes not as many as a few years ago but they serve a purpose get to learn creative ways out of them lol
thanks appreciate the looks

An old timer once told me "you cant learn UNLESS you make the mistakes" :)

Three ways of learning: Through your mistakes, through someone elses mistakes, or, not learning at all.

thank you, i just jumped in a few years back, wife got me the starter stamp, knife set from tandy… still using it although have added a couple stamps and never used others lol… really need a new swivel knife though, think thatll be my next upgrade, my stuff always seems to involve a fair amount of carving really like to check out a different knife, tandy only offers 2 sizes i think, is that fairly standard?
Thanks

Very inspiring work, especially the holster.

If I can make only one suggestion though [and please understand this is NOT a disparaging comment in the slightest]. As an avid shooter/CCW member for over 24 years and active LE for the same amount of time, I draw this from experience [pardon the pun]:

The mouth of the holster should have a double layer sewn onto it to help keep it from collapsing/folding flat when empty - or - stitch a pre-formed strip of Kydex, moulded around the inside of the mouth. Sand/tapir the top and bottom edges so there's not a 90* edge scraping against the firearm. [think of a "funneling" effect]

The reason is, aside from carrying the firearm for safe transport...if the firearm must be drawn, at some point you need to re-holster it. The double layer makes the mouth opening stiff so "one-handed" re-holstering is easily accomplished when tensions - and adrenalin levels - are high.

Otherwise, that's some fantastic work. Hat's off to you

no offense taken, might not be noticeable from the picture but I did flare out the mouth and this has a 3 inch drop from the belt it's like a cowboy rig for an m&p pellet gun
it's around 10oz hide and holds it's shape pretty well
thanks for the insight though and yeah I agree on the added material it's why I haven't tried a modern iwb or owb rig yet, my 3 rd cowboy style even though it's not really a cowboy iron
thanks

Very nice work. I have been doing less leather work as the tools have become so expensive. They would have some good buy one get one specials or if you were a member they would give you a free stamp every quarter.
Yep those were the good old days.

yes its expensive i only buy when i need something, i make do with the limited stamps ive got and some of those havent been used much, im still learning
but i really love doing it, i can use my art skills and make something that can get used and i get a huge kick outta that, its different than my drawing and painting and whatnot, love that but its somethin different when a person can admire the work and its functional not just decoration
thanks for the praise

I'm not much for comic books, but I do like the Punisher skull.

That work is absolutely fantastic man... Seriously. Did you use leather paint for the white? Very few of my customers want something really different, but it's a joy when they do. I would be extremely proud if that were my work. Thanks for sharing it!

thanks man, and yes the white is cova color, watered down a bit applied then I antique it quite a bit
personally I'm not a big fan of full color on holsters and whatnot but a lot of guys like it, I'll see if I can dig up a pict of my carving tooling practice piece I did a few years back, it's in color also
thanks
gene

found it was a practice piece I did based on a me so american inspired drawing I did years ago

Yes, I remember seeing those carvings a while back. You, sir, are talented without question.

Question. Do you find that the cova's get used up quickly? I ask because I've seen packs that include a bunch of colors, but the jars are quite small. I find that chems get used up at very different rates. A small jug of gum trag will last me a really long time. Antique gel goes very quickly and dye is somewhere in between. I'll just buy bigger containers of the cova's if they don't go very far.
