Just finished these up for the Bayfield show this weekend. Looking forward to the pig roast at Wolfgang Loerchner's place! ;)

Oh so NICE! I'd kill(figuratively) to get my hands on that Talonite one. The Damascus utility is pretty - whoever gets those knives is real lucky cause they are two nice knives!

Nice Knives Don, I wish you lived here in Andrews, I'd get you to teach me a thing or two. Where can a man get a small piece of that talonite to try? I've heard about it a little, but havn't had the chance to really study up on it. I would like to try it though. I just got some damasteel & am looking forward to using it, I bought a couple of bars at the Guild show. Keep up the Good work, Dwayne

Thanks for the comments, guys. Dwayne, email Tom Walz at tomwalz@email.msn.com. He can fix you up with whatever size you want. Material for one of your folder blades will run $40-50, and they'll cut it to whatever size you want it.

Tom, I have a slick furnace in my garage that might interest you...:p

Very nice, Don. The lines are nice and clean, and you've used the contrasting materials without confusing my eye. Very well done.

Very nice Don. Was that you first Talonite blade?

Gus, I have made several Talonite knives. This one was really made at the suggestion of Tom Walz, as a possible "joint venture" knife show drawing item. A.G. Russell bought one of my Talonite knives at the Blade Show, and when it hits the Cutting Edge, I expect I will be making more. I like working with the stuff, and it makes a great blade.

Thanks Don, I'll try to give him a holler when I get back from Austin, Keep making them beautiful knives my friend, Dwayne

Both knives are fantastic! I really have a thing for pearl, and for damascus as well. Both are so well balanced they look significantly larger than they are.

I am puzzled by the apparent "thumbstuds" on both blades. The damascus knife is pretty obviously a fixed blade, but I can just see somebody trying like crazy to fold the Talonite blade -- wondering where in hell the lock release is hidden. Can you please explain?

Thanks for sharing with us,

I agree both of these are very nice. The use of contrasting materials really puts these knives over the top. The Mokume and Mother of Pearl scales just make me :)

The ruby set in 14K gold in the ricasso is sort of my signature. I designed these knives to compete with folders (they are straight *pocket* knives), and the ruby is placed to give the illusion of a thumb stud. They have been mistaken for folders on many occasions, even by some pretty savvy folks. And that makes me ;)

Don,

That Rose pattern Damasteel is beautiful!! (Both knives are stunning!)

Thanks for the preview,
Michael
