Couple of barn finds

I was looking around the barn at my fathers and cam across an old mattock and a tomahawk head that I had bought years ago but forgot about.





 
I tried to find a mattock handle to fit but the current ones are round. The only handle that would fit are for axes, anyone know when the styles switched.
 
I went with a double bit axe handle. I unfortunately had to dig a grave for my dog. She was 17 and I owed her to do it myself.
 
Sorry to hear about your dog. I have 4 of them and I dread the day that we have to bury one. It's been a long time since I've had a dog die. They are like family and it's hard. You are looking out for her even in death though so you are a good friend.
 
Big empty space in our lives now. Kids are grown and it is what it is, just plain sad.
