Hi everyone,

I shot a some pics of a couple of big damascus bowies that I have been slowly working on. These are both around 9 or 10" blades. The damascus on both is Aldo's 1084/15n20 forged by me.

The one that is assembled has a copper guard and Ambrosia Maple handle and spacer. The spacer and handle are cut different ways the spacer is quarter sawn and the handle is cut on the end grain.

The other one I am thinking of using the block pictured that is an end cut block of Spalted Maple that I got from Larry Bailey a couple of years ago. I have one matching block of this left and that is it so I am wanting to use it on the right knife. The guard is going to be the 416 stainless shown.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks and Happy Holidays to all.

That's some great looking wood and awesome knives. I've always wanted to use some spalted maple, has that block been stabilized?

amazing blades and some gourgeous wood. I would give my left.... arm for a block or two of spalted maple that nice.

While I am not a Damascus connoisseur I do love the Bowies! The choice for handle material is awesome and the design of the Bowies are fantastic.!:thumbup:

Those are very nice! I think that spalted maple is just wrong...You need to send it to me for disposal...My address is....Hahaha Just kidding...An amazing block of wood for easily as nice a knife!

I know you don't have much time, these days, to work in the shop; but you know its the best therapy there is for a stressed out new dad.

Have a good one, Fred
