BTW, I believe with this and the other Neem handled YCS Karda blem I sharked a while back I have now brought back together the set my previously sharked YCS without Kardas would have been had they not become separated in the shipping. When I am finished fixing these cracks and all the other issues on the YCS and the scabbard etc of all of this, I will show it all off for you all. :) This is the one that prompted DanSmithy to say I had really big hands because the YCS is like 5 pounds. :D

If I didn't already have an exact match to this Rusty SD, I'd grab it too...

either there is no interest or all are asleep. since there are no views,,,, you all must be AFK or asleep then...

Sorry Warty I'd have grabbed it but I'm in Criminal Justice Class right now :) I hope I get the Rusty, at least-that Karda is great!

don't get me wrong, this was great for me. I now have a really nice, user YCS set with NEEM handles.

When I am all done making it pretty and field worthy, all oiled and nice, I will show it off for you all. It is the one I got with only the awl. I had an unmarked YCS Karda with a neem handle from a previous DotD. That one is the longer bladed of the two you usually get with the YCS set and this looks to be the shorter bladed one. All of the handles have this same darker neem and the same grain pattern to them. I am guessing they simply go separated somewhere along the line somehow. $75 for the Khuk and Awl, $20 for the other Karda and $18 for this one makes $113.00 for a really nice Neem handled, complete YCS set. The scabbard is from the new sarki too so it is quite nice overall. All in all with these getting separated and me being lucky enough to manage to shark them all back together, I get quite a deal. YEA! Finally.

This is exactly the type of blade I'm looking for to complete the three-knife HI kit-a small karda, a hefty khukri, and a middle ground Karda. I got stealth sharked on the Rusty, but it's cool-there are always more chances!

Congratulations.:)
Some things are meant to be. I think the DOTD snags are part vigilance, part luck, and part destiny.

Steve it was because of your post in my thread yesterday that I realized an 18" Sirupati was available in the DOTD thread from the day before. After looking at the recommendations, and realizing such a great deal was staring me in the face, I emailed Yangdu and got it!

In this case, I guess, it was part luck, part destiny, and part Steve. :)

So thanks Steve!

Now I am not sure if I am going to keep it as a set since the monster also fits into one of the KEMRF Sheaths and I bought it specifically to carry and use in the field. The scabbard they come with, and all those kardas and the awl, make it hard to carry. So now I may just send it to Payette and be done with it. I will wait to look at this one and see if I like it better than the other one and decide then. I am definately keeping one or the other if not both and the awl is simply too useful now that I have made it into an awl again.

Glad to hear that you're getting your first HI khukuri bgz101. That Sirupati should serve you well. Let us know what you think after you've had a chance to fondle it.

you only got it because I didn't want it. Just so we're clear here. :)

I have one that size and another in the 15-16 inch size as well and didn't really see the need for this one. Had it been a neem handle though, it would have been mine and then I would have had a satisal one to sell so you still would have wound up with the Sirupate of your dreams. :D

Good on ya bgz101! I am glad you got one and now remember we warned you, they are like potatoe chips...
You can't have just one so start thinking about what you'll be wanting next. :D

Sorry for the late replay...been away from the grid for a while...work & stuff...

I don't know about big, but strong hands ;) one must have to handle this bugger for long time. My YCS is 18.5" - 38oz (over 1 kg) and is hefty indeed. It out-chops everything else I have with ease, but it tires my hand too.
Will post a review when my camera comes back from far-far-away.
I'm glad you got the set together:thumbup:...what's yours always comes back to you.:D

You know Dan, i kept whispering to my 36Oz ASTK so we can work closely.
Turned out that the correct chopping technique and properly sharpened blade made the wood chuckin extremely fun.

What i did was to pull the khuk back to generate that windmill look, lock your wrist and just let your elbow released by "grab-throwing" it onto the target. It bites like mad on the wood!
