Couple of bowies

Martin, yours is the next one to go into the oven.:D

Thanks, Don. That big one has at least 5 things on it that I had either only tried once before or never tried. Only my second succesful hamon, my second S guard ever, my first use of wrought iron, first time forging down the bouts of the guard flat like you do and first time ever using the flexible clevis setup to pin the tang to a big piece of allthread. You were right about the guard forging....a real PITA, but the results are nice.:D

By the way, the stripes on the big blade are a refelction of my little brother's pergola where we took the pics. Yes, the brat has a pergola and a veranda too!!!!:D

Nice looking S guard, Joe!

Don't really care for the "spanish notch" or whatever it's called but I like the blade shape and the stag

Hope you don't mind me posting the pictures here.
Beautiful sheaths and nice photos, also.

Joe some great looking steel

Fantastic leather as always Paul

So, Joe........does the handle on the smaller one look familiar?:D Paul did his usual bang up job on the sheaths. Hard to believe that is ostrich. If he hadn't told me, i would have guessed that it was some of his patented gator "armpit" skin!

Wow Joe I never would have guessed that was the piece I sent you

How does it feel

which hand does it favor

The left hand, of course. :D I had to reshape the bottom of the butt end a bit. It is pretty light, especially compared to its big brother!!!!! The piece of stag on the biggun is very thick. That nice Indian couple had a few of those big pieces and I got a couple. I think that Craig Camerer snagged the others because we were rooting through those bins not long after they got set up on Thursday.:D

They are both great, but that s-guard particularly rocks. Great work Joe!
