Both are very nice. The top one is fancier, but think I like the Scagel-ish styling of the bottom one more. I certainly love the blade shape.

Those are some very nice knives. The first one especially catches my eye.

Beutiful knives. I'm partial to the drop point. That bark bone looks right at home on those ones.

Great looking knives I prefere the top one.
I have a customer at the moment just sent me a couple of designs.
one is almost like your bottom one. His blade is just a bit shorter.

thanks for posting the pics

Bruce,
Out of curiosity, what did you do to make the tang nut for the thong hole on the first knife? I have been threading a piece of NS and then having to grind off a bit of the tap to get the threads deep enough.

Thanks for all the kind words everybody.Boy these look so small to me after all the Bowies I have done and no skinners. But it is fun doing them again.

CL...I actually made the the ball for the bale with a longer rod that I put through a hole in the buttcap and then soldered it on,then notched the rod so it would hold in the epoxy and glued it on like you would one that had a screw hard soldered on.I want to start doing the threaded ones though.

Bruce those are nice skinners. I particularly like the drop point with the sterling silver. I dont know why more people dont use sterling on their fancy ones. It looks timeless and will hold its value forever.

Man Bruce those are sweet. The embossed ferrule is a great touch. These are the kind of knives you Pros make, and what I have to strive for. Thank you for showing the way.

May I ask about the construction of the ferrule on #1. Is it a two-piece like some of your others? And how did you apply the embossing, is it actually stamped in, etched, engraved, how? And did you devise the pattern on paper first? Is it symetrical on both sides? Really curious, it's a great addition I'd like to copy some day.

And like Bruce B, I think the sterling is a very cool medium, classic, like you said the other day. I think it'd work well for sheaths - tips & throats - too. Maybe I can work this into my future Price dagger... You sure give me a lot think about, Bruce. Thanks for the inspiration.

Bruce, both look great as usual. My nod goes to #1.
Is bark bone your name for the bone you color?

Tracy,Yes this is the name that I gave my Bone a year ago as I felt is sounded better than dyed cow bone,I came up with the name by thinking Bark-Dog's bark...Cow bone sold as dog chew toy, plus they chew on the ones I find..Thus "Bark Bone" in place of Dog Chew Bone..

Dave,The sterling comes from Rio Grande,They call it patterned wire,They have pages of different sizes and styles in gold, sterling, gold filled, copper,I am not sure if they do it in brass....It isn't real expensive..As to making the ferrule with it since it comes dead soft you can just bend it around a form or the piece of handle material you are using, trim and wire closed then hard solder the seam then put it on..You will be limited to your imagination only as you can make some cool poatterns by soldering more than one type of the wire together before shaping.Yes it come already embossed..
I was really suprised at how much the sterling dressed the one knife up compared to the other one without the ferrule,The bale on the end looks cool but won't let a person use the butt end of the knife if needed in the woods, but then again they shouldn't use the butt end as a hammer anyways except on a survival knife that was designed for that purpose:D
Thanks for all the kind words everybody,
Bruce

Hey those are great...now if you put that silver ferrull (sp?) on the skinner blade...
That is some really cool "silver stuff" I bet you could do handle inlays with it too.
BTW, great photos!
:D

Bruce, nice as always, I know what you mean when you
say that thay are small after all the Bowies, just
starting some small ones myself.

Bruce these knives are not up to your usual standards. Please send them to me for a quiet burial. I won't tell a soul they were produced by you. Oh %&*& I cannot tell a lie, they are gorgious as usual. Great job Mr. Terry

Bruce I like them both, you don't have to make just bowies
you got it with the small babies too... :D
