My wife was off work yesterday, and we both needed a bit of time away from everything, so we took a little roadtrip. We ended up in Watseka, about 70 miles from home, and checked out some shops. We found a small resale / junk shop, and came across this, a USA made Colonial Barlow with fake scrimshaw of a fish on it. Price was marked $2.99, so I got it.

After that we came home up Rte 1, and stopped at an antique shop in Manteno, where Connie spotted this box in a case full of junk knives.

Inside was a nice, unused Buck 525 with a wild turkey on it. Price was $7, so I got it too. All in all, a nice day out!

I'd say that helped make it an enjoyable road trip! Nice nabs!

Great finds.
I never would have expected to find that buck box with a buck still in it.
Does that Colonial have solid bolsters, or shells like the Imperials? Are you going to take it out and use it, or leave it mint on card?

I'd be ready to put those back and keep them in the condition they are in. That was a fantastic day if you ask me. I don't know much about Colonial knives, but it is fairly recent production judging from the packaging they put it in (should be outlawed if you ask me).

Anyway, I'd sure be happy with those purchases, especially the Buck. The graphics on it are nice; that could be a nice collector. I've never seen one like it before.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I plan on leaving the Colonial in the package, but.......they had one more just like it that I just may go back for.

By all means, that's what I'd do too. Having your cake and eating it too. :D
