Hello, here is a new one that has 2 firsts for me, a split sheath and a lined sheath. Not sure of the proper terms. The liner material is the first mystery, I salvaged it out of a commercial building we were cleaning out during the last depression. Took it to a fabric wholesaler a few years ago and they couldn't tell me anything. The dark front feels like very fine felt and the backing has a vinyl feel to it. If you can zoom in enough the backing looks almost gridded. The backing is laying over the top of the belt loop in the first picture. Any ideas on what this material is? I've got a BIG roll of it. The split sheath is my first, as is the liner and I learned a lot. The liner was "cased" with the finished edge of a piece of ceramic tile after laying the cement on the leather with an epoxy brush. Except for a smallish fix it adhered flat while folding over. I'm happy with it but the knife is a bit loose in the sheath. It's pretty much ready to sew in the last picture.

ETA, forgot to ask, what is a proper way to finish the sewing? My plan is double saddle stitch from the edge side top, finishing at the terminus of the split side, then backstitching once and trimming close with a drop of cement? Is there a better way?

I try to always back stitch two stitches. At the beginning and at the end of a stitch line. I then use a fine tip soldering iron to melt the strings.

The stitching line on this sheath started just to the right of and below the brand and terminated near the point. Start and stop are double stitched and threads cut with a soldering iron. Little drop of glue is a long time and well established method used by many top craftsmen including our own Paul.

No ideal what the liner material is.

OK, so here it is finished. The stitch line on the back side got a little whacked. It's exaggerated by the camera angle in the pic. Don't know how it happened since I pre-punch with several finish nails to hold it together. I started the double saddle stitch from bother upper termini and finished at the bottom. You can see at the bottom back side where I back stitched the thread is visibly thicker. I'm thinking next time I should thread the final stitch out between the slabs, then microdot with glue and tuck in? I mentioned earlier that the knife was a little loose but it turned out to be a nice snug fit after all. Pssst... it's in the fixed blade sales forum if interested.18-19 1.JPG 18-19 2.JPG 18-19 6.JPG

Hello John, It is mine also. Stock removal 5160, professional heat treat, about 11 5/8" overall with just under 7" ahead of the guard. Vitex wood on the handle with a nice palm swell. 416 SS on scalloped guard and pins.

Thank you John, I appreciate that.
