I just received a new Lite Machete. I know I could just get any old cheap machete, but I am a sucker for micarta handles. The handles on this machete feel great. I spent the last two afternoons clearing some unwanted brush out of the back yard, and the Lite Machete made short work of it without giving me any blisters or hot spots on my hands.

I also picked up a HEST as a gift for a friend of mine. I had my doubts about this knife. I thought the bottle opener and pry bar would get in the way more that they would help. I am glad to say that I was wrong about my assumptions. The bottle opener actually gives you good grip with your thumb, without digging into it. The pry bar doesn't bother me one bit either, and I could see many occasions where it could come in handy. I may have a hard time giving this one up. I guess I will just have to get myself one.

Way to put that machete right to work!

The handle really sets this machete apart. I've used mine quite extensively, with

no hot spots, or issues of any kind. Good job Jeff, and Mike

Nice combo! The machete can clear a space in the jungle and the HEST can open the ice cold cerveza you'll be drinking with your buds in the new camp area :)

Is it just the angle of the photo, or does the blade on the
hest appear too small compared to the handle?
How are the proportions?

The handle is just over 4" and the blade is at about 3.5". The handle has more room that the ESEE-3. The ESEE-3 just fits my average size hands, and the HEST has plenty of room. The ESEE-3 has more cutting edge on it. If you have larger hands, the HEST may fit you a bit better. That said, the blade thickness and design of the two make them two completely different knives.

Anyone know which reputable dealer has the lite machete in stock? I checked KSF very recently and they didn't have them.

Thanks!
