I designed two new models this week. Firstly I am so enjoying the swedges on Sylvrfalcn type knives that I designed a fighter to show that feature off.

And as promised, I designed a knife for Jo Arthur's big mitts. And its going to be named the Bigmitt. This knife features a spearpoint bushcrafting style blade that is 4" long, but I will also make a version with a 3" blade. The blade is a spearpoint with lines much like a Kephart in both handle and blade. It is much wider than the Kephart, and its handle is longer than the Woodsman by a good bit.

The new fighter looks interesting. I'm curious to see how that turns out/ I love the swedges I've seen you do on the Sylvrfalcen

Love the new fighter design Andy!
That would be friggin awesome in carbon fiber with a blue pinstripe ;)

The Bigmitt sounds great. I love a full sized handle and short blade combo! Looking forward to seeing the 3" model.

Andrew, I've always wondered but never asked: Why doesn't the Forge do a classic woodlore pattern (As in Adventure Sworn/Alan Wood, etc)? It's a very popular design with bushcrafters around the globe. But it seems like you've purposely avoided that look.

I'm not complaining, just curious buddy. :)

That is the whole reason I designed this knife. Those swedges are so fun to grind that I designed the whole knife around it.

I'm not much a fan of the Woodlore pattern. And it felt like copying a classic. I've never copied a Loveless for completely different reasons. I like those, but still don't feel right copying.

I've been off in the mountains and just saw this thread. VERY interesting. Thanks, Andy. I hope others are intrigued too. Now it looks like I'd better sell something and get some money.

I'll send you one to try out. If it's right, please post about it. Then I'll sell it to you for used Knife price if you want to keep it.

I'm excited about the bigmitt! I have mamo jammo hands and it's hard to find a knife that has a comfortable handle. I loved the kephart but sold it as the handle was a bit small for me.

Love the name and the design! Can't wait till these get made! Thanks for sharing.

Yes. I'll draw a 3" version.

Thank you again, Andy. I'm not very experienced at bushcrafting, still trying to take multi-day backpacking trips, mostly in areas that don't allow campfires. So I can try out a knife more realistically by using it around the woods behind the house. The Big Palmer and BCK are great EDCs, but I like the idea of a model that I can really get a grip on for some everyday tasks. Maybe thin stock, too? Getting rather specific here. Hope that's OK.

Yes. I'll draw a 3" version.

Pete -- From looking at in-hand pics and reading some hand measurements, I know there are a lot of guys here with mitts larger than mine and hope these new models fill a niche for a bunch of us.

I imagine it should turn out wicked. I am already seeing it spalted and swedged and liking what I see :)
