This is one of the coolest ocean photos I've seen--the breaking wave ahead of the boat is amazing:

That's a 60-foot trimamaran--not a small boat.

here's another shot (in flatter water) that gives a beter idea of the size.

And these guys on another 60 footer might be needing a change of underwear --

Racing in a pack of these things has to be pretty intense. Photos from:

The site below has some photos that are just plain frightening.

Now I have just an inkling of what UB was talking about when he talked about being in his first storm aboard the destroyer. Hell I'da been hiding under a bunk somewhere squealing like a little girl if I saw anything 1/8th that size.  :( :o

We encountered 30 foot waves on a Fishing (cattle) boat out of San Diego on a fishing trip with the Deutsch Company years ago but they were gentle. Lots of guys seasick including me but that was only after we drank the coffee. Come to find out later the de-salination unit wasn't working right and there was enough salt in the water to make us all sick. Those who drank beer or sodas were fine. :grumpy:

The captain was supposed to take us where we could catch some rock fish but didn't he was hell bent on a tuna run. I think 6 or 8 were all that was caught and all but 2 of those on trolling rods. :grumpy:
Bastard.
