first off, my CG BATAC
you'll recall from a previous thread that i beat the crap out of the edge on this thing. took a little longer than i thought, but i cleaned it up. it's nice and sharp again, although sadly not quite as sharp as it was before beating it up.
i've been wanting to do this for a while, but i finally got around to taking the handles off and wrapping it japanese style. my fingers are sore now . . . but the handle is nice and comfy. i'm sure it'd be a little skinny for most of you, but i like it. the handles definitely made the difference between feeling like a bigger knife and feeling the size that it looks and handles. it's very easy to manipulate and change grips. in addition, without those clunky g10 handles, the balance point is now where i like it - right at the front of the handles (wrap) instead of the other side of the first hole, and it feels significantly lighter and fighter-ish. i had no idea how to tie it off, so i did it with the most secure knots i know, the neatest i could. it doesn't stick way out, so i'm happy with it, even if it looks a little messy.

next up, i cleaned the spine up on my BAD. you can see pictures in a previous thread, but i batoned it with the spine of another knife. had lots of small dents. it doesn't look bad anymore. i rounded out the corners of spine a bit and spent a few hours restoring the satin finish on the spine. didn't quite get all the scratches from the stone out, but it was good enough for me (the remaining spot would have taken another hour at least).

I think they both look great. You did a good job with the wrap and the spine. I'm sure you'll be able to get the Batac scary sharp with a little more stropping. How long did the spine take to slightly smooth out?

took about half an hour to get all the dents out and make it look neat. the satin-ing took several hours . . . .

I am going to have to issue you a "really nasty behavior towards infi that I hope I never in all my days see again" INFRACTION I still shudder every time I think about that poor skinny bad, being hit with the spine of the BTAC That just ain't right! (especially since you were surrounded by literally a forest of batons!) I guess I am quite pleased that the higher hardness BAD did not break. Tougher than I though such a thin high hardness would have been.

well at least it isn't as bad as hitting it with a 3lb steel mallet . . . granted i'm not trying to break it.
