- What is the significance of the blades with "Pro Line"? Can they serve as a dating reference?

- Can 124's be dated by handle material?

Pro line knives are made for Cabelas. They have lifetime free sharpening from Buck.
As to the last questions, I would say somewhat, but not very well ;)

:D yep!!

The Pro line etches were only used for certain years, but the tang stamp is a better way to find manufacture year. Also certain models were "pro line" etched for different years. Pro line 119's were made for a short time, 110 pro lines are still made...

The handle for the 124 is also possible but some handle materials were used for quite a time. Handle spacers, handle, and stamp are all indicators.
Posting pics are the best way to get help! ;) If you have a white micarta 124 I know a gentleman that would know the year, but a birchwood handle would be tougher.
