The chopper is really recent, just finished it up yesterday. The blade is a shade over 10", handle is about 5". The materials were the customer's preferences--52100, wrought iron, and black canvas micarta. I really like how the dark color scheme turned out.

The belt axe is W2 w/ bubinga handle.

Tad,

That "Dark" chopper has beautiful, menacing lines , colors and textures, and the quench line matches perfectly. The belt axe is neat, too. Can't wait to see what you bring to Blade.

Tad, you'd better get that chopper out to Lord Vader right quick - I understand he's not a particularly patient dude. :D

Nice work on both.

I like the little axe! Tim Potier showed us how he does his so I am wanting to give his method a shot one of these days. The black knife is also very nice!

Super nice, both of them.

I have a question though: why does the chopper have such a long swedge? I would have thought you would want to leave more weight forward on a chopper rather than take it away?

your axe turned out awesome:thumbup:
The knife is excellent as well. Quite bad ass, I must say:cool:

You're very skilled regarding choppers, that's a fact.......but this axe is outstanding Tad !
Great work.

Thanks, everyone.

Yes, the slot is milled in. I've tried forge welding several pieces together, basically leaving a rectangular slot, but machining it out after forging is faster and easier for me, leaving a cleaner appearance.

I do the swedge simply because I like it. It's a convex grind and doesn't remove a lot of weight. The knife is still plenty blade-heavy.
