Couple questions for y'all

First off how does the redesigned Viele hold up. I recently saw one of the original designed one's and it was in pretty sorry shape, and the lock up on the blade was terrible, the liner lock even slapped into the far liner.
How well does the VG-10 hold up, I am inexperienced with this steel as I pretty much bought only BM folders and CS fixed blades up until not too long ago, but now I'm enlightened and love Spydies as well as a few others.
I am considering picking up a FRN Native for carry around campus, but I was wondering how that would be recieved in an engineering atmosphere as I am seeking a co-op in the next semester or two.
Would the Viele work for both at work in an engineering type job and on campus? Better than the Native? I really like the Viele, but right now funds for knives are limited as I have spent way too much on them recently and quit my job, and still have a trip home for Christmas coming up that needs taken care of.
All input would be very welcome and I have a few Spydies available for trade if you have a new model plain edge Viele that you want to get rid of.

I have a new Viele and it has given me no problems. The lockup is very solid and VG-10 is one of the best steels out there. It is very easy to get super sharp and is pretty stain resistant. My guess is that the Viele will not cause you much problem if you are around people used to knives. It is a bit long but it also elegant looking. If you are low on funds, the Calypso jr lightweight is also VG-10 is much less expensive and a considerably smaller.
