First post on this forum, looks like this is a pretty nice place, very informative!

First, I was thinking about getting a better flashlight than the 2aa mag-lite I carry; what would be recommended? Must be very close to the Mag in size, fit in the Pock-Its belt holder, and I'd like to keep the price around $20-30. I was looking at the LED lights on eBay, but don't know enough to keep myself from getting screwed. BTW, I got a tail switch for it because it kept turning itself on...

Next, I'd like to get a Leatherman Wave to replace the Schrade folding pliers I carry. (also in the Pock-Its) I like the Schrade, but I tried to open 'em one-handed and it didn't work so well. Also, with the Wave(because it has scissors), I could stop carrying the Schrade Tough Chip as well... Where would be the best place to acquire a Wave? Do the chain stores carry them or is there a better place on the net to get them?

Last question... Anyone know where I can get a pair of light up nun-chuks? I saw some in a store at the Lake-of-the-Ozarks (in Missouri), but didn't have the funds with me at the time, and didn't press the wife about it, figuring I'd be able to find a pair on the net pretty easily. Anyone have any info?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

1. Surefire G2 Nitrolon, Streamlight TwinTask 1L or 2L, Inova X5, Inova X1(not out yet)
2. One hand opening of the pliers or tools? For pliers, you may want to look at SOG's or Gerber's multitools. Highly recommend SOG.
3. Don't know

I have no idea what a Pock-its belt holder is so I dunno if any of these will fit. Lood guck!

Check out BrightGuy for the lights.

Agree with Diamond Cut.

I carry an Inova X5, very bright, lightweight, stubby, tailcap switch; and a Gerber 800. The folding pliers have served me for 4+ years and done very well.

Unsure about the nunchucks.

With regard to the flashlight: If you're accustomed to the mini - mag's size and weight, you might want to consider converting it to LED light with an Opalec LED module . They come highly recommended, as you will see if you do a search here at BF or over at Candle Power Forums .

Much smaller, but probably brighter than the mini-mag is the ARC AAA, get a premium module on eBay for under $30.

Wave is good, there are many places to buy it including 1SKS where you won't be sodomized, also, check eBay. Look into the Victorinox line as well, they now have a model with scissors (X tool?) I'm not sure of the model, but they are TOP notch in quality, but a little heavy. Hey, you're giving up the Tough Chip so you can afford an extra 2-3 oz.

Finally, I don't know anything about nun-chucks since they are mighty illegal here in PA.;)

Flashlight...The Inova X5 is close to your price point and it blows the mini mag away.

Multi tool...I prefer the Swiss Tool, but you won't one hand it. The Leatherman Pulse might be more to your liking.

Thanks for all the replies! I've got a lot to think about, but I'm leaning toward the Opalec Newbeam, as it's the same size as the Mag (well, off by a hair!), But the Inova X5 looks very promising as well.

I checkd out 1SKS, but I think I can get 'em cheaper off of eBay. I read a review of the Wave someplace on the net and the reviewer specifically talks about being able to one-hand it.

The wife is going back down to the lake for a vacation in a couple weeks, I'll just send some cash with her (for the chucks) and hope it doesn't get spent on clothes! :)

Yep! Grew up in North Central Pa... I always carried a butterfly knife, but I was worried about it the whole time.

Appreciate all the help and ideas!

The SOG Powerlock is a heavy duty multitool with just about everything on it -- including scissors. All the blades lock, and the lock release is reliable and simple. I think it blows the Wave away, but then, I never liked the Wave. It's too flimsy, wobbly, and uncomfortable to use the inner tools.

The only problem with the Powerlock is the size and weight being greater than any other multitool I've seen, including Leatherman Supertool and Victorinox, also.

I second recommendations on the Inova X5T. I carry my Surefire E2 constantly. The X5T will run nicely off depleted lithium 123s from the E2. The Arc AAA is a great keychain light, but that's all it's good for.
