Hi Guy's, I just bought a Northfield Serpentine Jack with burnt stag and am curious what the UN-X-LD on the shield means, if anything?

Also anyone know if GEC are going to do a sowbelly?

Great Eastern only announces new patterns 45-60 days ahead of time; and then they don't say what it is going to be until released. There is no new pattern on the schedule. A sowbelly would be a sweet addition though.

Oh yeah, +3 on that (maybe someone from GEC is reading this :D)
I've been looking at Hen&Rooster sowbellies for some time now and could not decide to pull the trigger but I'd be totally all over a Tidioute sowbelly in burnt stag.
I would even dare to dream about a short wharncliff a short spey and a nice hefty clip, all in 1095 and 3 7\8 closed.

UN-X-LD = "unexcelled"

Really..?? Well hopefully the one I receive will X-L...:p

Looks like there could be some support for a GEC Sowbelly, maybe there should be an official GEC Sowbelly request thread.

Only problem being I was hoping for something that appears to be rather sacrilegious, a 3 3/4" sowbelly with Northfield style fluted and pinched bolsters, premium scales and wait for it......440c blades! and something other than a acorn sheild.

Being new to the brand I am wondering is it a hard and fast rule, no fancy bolsters with 440c blades or have they just sold out before I could get my dirty mitts on them?

I'll take a Northfield sowbelly in snakewood, please.
Oh pleaseopleaseoplease.....:D

There are too many nice patterns out there to try to force GEC into making one of them. They have done a good job of bringing new, interesting knives to the market, and I trust their judgement.

As an example, the new small fixed blade hunters have just hit the distributors. Some of us are already hoping for a larger version of their lockback, but there's new versions of the #72 lockback in the works with wharncliffe blades and with spearpoint blades.

Well I couldn't help myself, I emailed GEC regarding the possibility of a sowbelly, hoping for some insider information :p.

I got a friendly response along the lines of "I imagine sometime in the future...". So sorry, no scoop or confirmation but a glimmer of hope :D.
