Thanks for reading.
I was just sitting here Checking these ASH-1s Out and was wondering if any of you ever seen an ASH-1 (from CS Id assume) With a NM treatment on the Talon Holes like on the NMSFNO and NMFBM ?
and Also How come NMFSH doesn't have NM treatment on Talon holes like NMSNFO and NMFBM and SAR's Do ? Do you know ?
Thanks
Enjoy

I've never seen such a beast... But it sure would be nice!

IIRC what Bossman said at the release of the NMSFNO, nuclear meltdown referred to a longer & fatter blade length and edges that have been melted down (rounded). Not sure why the NMFSHs didn't get the full meltdown treatment. After the 1st two NMs were released, I know there was chatter about leaving, or having some place on the knife to strike a fire steel... Maybe for that? Maybe it was to keep cost down a bit?

So a NMASH-1 would have a 7"+ blade length with a melted down 0.32" fat-a$$ frame! Count me in! :D

It's been a while since I held a NMFSH in my hands but I thought they had the NM treatment. Am I remembering something wrong? Maybe the BIG finish ones didn't? I never owned one of those so I wouldn't know.

Im holding BIG finish NMFSH right now, it has rounded spine, not not melted Talon holes like the SARs or other NM blades.
Also there is NMFSH LE on the Exchange and look like the handle part is the same as on BIG finish NMFSH

I know I'd be in for some NMASH-1's :-)

Here's some NM pics

NMFSH has the meltdown on the outside edges of the knife only, none on the talon Holes. Here's the difference between a NMFBM and a NMFSH:

More of the NMFSH:

Note that the inside of the Talon Hole on the NMFSH has a slight chamfer, but not the Nucler Meltdown treatment of the NMFBM.

interesting question. Never thought of that. Nice pics too guys thanks. Learned something... Mark that on the calendar lol.

Ahhhh. Man I'm dense sometimes. I thought the question was about the outside around the talon hole. I never really thought about the hole itself. There was a a lot of talk on here around the size of the holes back in the day. We wondered if we would see the bigger holes like the NMFBM and NMSFNO on other knives since the NMFSH didn't have them. Never really considered them a special part of the NM treatment. Live and learn.

IIRC, Jerry described the original as "Nuclear Meltdown Ball Bearing Finish" as applied to the NMFBM... The NMFBM was the shortest production run ever...at least to that point, and even if less than 150-200 of the nmfbm LE's were sold (with lots of HOGS caught with their pants down when the run end was announced) the work placed into them & the NMSFNO & LE version. probably had the Shop rethinking this finish after, especially on the LE's. These are gorgeous Busse's, the NM LE's, 2 of my favorites for sure, but Garth & crew prolly still have nightmares over the detailing work done on them. :D
