Well, just dropping in again with a few more pix.

Nice video of what happens when the helmsman loses concentration while surfing a 60 ft ocean racer at around 25 knots:

Oopsie! Nice broach.

This is from the 2001-2002 Volvo Ocean Race (formerly Whitbread) which is multi-leg ‘round the world race held race held every four years.

Only the Real Player formats at this site worked for the box I’m using.

Some good shots near the center of this little clip collection too, but some are really short. Watch for the waterspout and the iceberg.

This year’s race is going to be in new 70 footers, with lots more new generation onboard cameras so should be pretty interesting.

“Movistar, one of two boats in the water so far has broken a world record sailing 530.19 nautical miles in a 24 hour period. (That’s for monohulls)

Here’s a vid from the 2001 global challenge race, another round the world race: rightmost column, at bottom.

They make amazing boats nowdays...The new materials are awesome.

lastly check out "Maximus" and "Mari-Cha IV" currently duking it out in the Atlantic:

"Mari-Cha IV" had the previous 24 hr record at525.7 nautical miles.

Wow, that wipeout hurt to watch.

I've only sailed once, at a 'team-building' event. Loved it. Our team won.

It hurt the sponsor's pocketbook too, that spinnaker looks pretty trashed.
