So did anyone watch the big Couric debut on CBS last night? What did you think? Is it true that they devoted the first story to of all things Tom Cruise's baby?

Caught her flipping channels. No real difference from Dan or Bob in her delivery. A little easier on the eyes.

No, the first story, IIRC, was concerning the oil reserves found off the Gulf Coast.

nope. Not interested.
You want to get my attention with a celebrity delivering the news, try Kiera Knightley, Scarlett Johanssen, or Penelope Cruz. Katie Couric has nothing that interests me.

Watching now. Missed the debut. It seems to me they have done a few things to harden her look. Something looks different with her beady little eyes. Doesnt have the crooked looking, blotchey lipstick I used to notice on Today.

Maybe the CBS makeup team is just better than the NBC team?

She reads the news well and is personable. I like her and I hope she does not become sarcastic or try to push her personal agendas on the news.

I dont watch news on TV unless something major happens I want to know about , ala 9-11.
I definatly would not spend any time watching her , I know exactly where she's coming from.

Damn straight ! or Melissa Thiereau (French Newswoman)...besides that, since when is a story on Tom Cruise's baby important to the American people? They need to leave that stuff to the tabloids, not primetime "news".

Or my personal favorite....Selma Hayek! ;)

I watched.

I did notice that her news delivery was less slanted towards the left than the previous two anchors.

I also noticed that Jim Axelrod is the new Chief White House correspondent. Where did John Roberts go? He get pissed off because he didn't succeed 'Left Hand' Dan Rather?

I think she should have another colonoscopy just to see how far her head is up her ass. I don't watch the news as made up on the Commie Broadcasting System.

Sorry Dad (former top exec at CBS, 60 min. producer, then MD at CNN), but I watch the BBC news.

Is the evening news even relevant any more?

On Imus they mentioned that somebody had said that Tom Cruise's baby had a lot of hair, to cover the antennae.

I have had no use for Couric since one morning about a year or more ago when she was talking to a political analyst and she referred to you, me, and everyone else beyond the beltway as "the great unwashed." That tells of her arrogance and where she is coming from.

Mike, I think it's clear that in this she is simply reflecting the behavior and opinions of the politicians themselves.

We are now within the 60 day McCain-Feingold shut-your-mouth pre-election free-speech-ban period. Incumbency shall not be questioned; accountability shall not be required.

But you are "the great unwashed." Just ask me, mycroftt, or any other professional bureaucrat.:D

It's true. You can never consider yourself truly washed until you have bathed in the glory of being a bureaucrat inside the beltway.

As a consolation, I know someone who grew up with Couric, went to elementary school together, etc., and politely described her as growing up "with a well-developed sense of self worth and entitlement". :D

Hallelujah, brother! I have heard the WORD! The WORD by way of Bill Gates. :D
