Coutellerie Chambriard, "Le Compact"

fantastic review. I've been eyeing this model for a while. Something tells me it will be a purchase within three months.

Thanks for the culture. I like your growing collection. Too bad it's difficult to get these in the USA.

Nice review, bringing back an older thread, but, I just picked up one of these in a trade, very handy blade size and handle shape.

Mine has some side to side blade play, ok on the vertical but I'm thinking I'll need to send this back to France for a look see, wondered if yours showed any signs of blade play?

Also this steel took an exceptional edge, the former owner didn't appear to use it a lot but it needed a sharpening, in less than 3 minutes on a couple stones, free hand sharpening, she's razor sharp again, very very keen, even to slicing toilet paper, while that seems like a strange test, you end up with narrow strips of toilet paper that you'll not be able to use, unless you sew it back together again? but, I'll probably not go that far ;) but this sharpened up quickly to even accomplish this arduous task, well maybe not arduous but it takes a very sharp edge to cleanly slice that soft material, suffice to say, it got to the G2 approved sharpness and I like how well they ground down the blade, plus their embossed name is a nice touch too.

G2

Edited to add some images of my compact, with Curly Birch wood scales
