It’s either stag (most likely), bone treated to look like stag (least likely) or plastic designed to look like stag (impossible to rule out based on only one phono.)
If it’s stag it shouldn’t chip or crack. Stag is pretty resilient.
If it’s plastic it also won’t chip or crack.
If it’s bone it may very well chip, if you drop it on the exposed end, on, say, concrete. I’ve done it.
It is stag. If anyone could jig bone that good, they would have the market cornered. Shouldn't be a problem with cracking. Stag/Bone will crack, but usually only during spinning/peening during assembly or in extreme temperature changes.
