I have long have a love affair with cowboy buckles. I notice over in US, buckle makers abound.

Some of the buckles on sale are intricate and beautiful in design.
Are such buckles just confined to cowboys and rodeo riders?

Whenever the occasion crops up, I will slip on one of the more elaborate buckles on my belt and swagger out to meet the world. :D :)

I'd leave the ones with hearts on em for the ladies.....
Other than that I like big belt buckles. I only wear the ones I've won. Have one thats pretty big from a long time ago winning a class with my horse at the state fair. Have a nother one thats bigger still that I got fr qualifying for the American Quarter Horse Associations Youth World Championship. Its my favorite.
I save em for horseshows and special occasions because I don't want to get them all scratched up.

I don't have a problem with anyone wearing them most of the time. I might consider you a dork if you go strutting around in a big PBRA (pro bull riders association) or a generic championship buckle and your a definite city slicker though. ;)

I often wear a Mexican embroidered belt with a fancy buckle. Mexican buckles are a bit diferent from U.S. cowboy buckles, but also big and elaborate, I don´t like them when they are too big and byte on the belly though.

When I was 11 years old (1963), my dad sent me during vacation to a metal working shop as an apprentice, and one of the guys there made me a nice large stainless steel buckle with a big one peso coin in the center, still have it and use it.

Sometimes I´ll put one on my regular dress belt, just not a large one.
