Coyote Back Breaker Trap

Thanks Bro, great reference by the way on the Athapascan Deadfall. I had forgotten all about it, been years.

Like I said over at Becker, Awesome work!

Love that trap, I'd imagine you could set it in a deer trail to take a small deer as well !

Gonna have to try that one soon !

Thanks guys!
Pit, this one is versatile in that you just need a bigger log and more distance to drop it and you can take any size game with it.

Thought I was posting in this thread but pasted it into the associated thread in Beckerhead land. This will be a repeat for many but is an absolute classic deadfall rigged for and successfully taking a black bear (seen toward the end of the video).

It's great info for a survival situation, BUT! The problem with dead fall traps is that they don't distinguish what or who they kill. That is why they are illegal to use, except in a survival situation!!!! Not to mention, being crushed is not a very humane way to kill something. IMO - No state allows this type of hunting. Be careful what you set up and leave.

Thats good advice Cody, and an important consideration for anyone practicing these skills.
I make these traps so I can do my part to keep the knowledge alive. These are great skills in a survival situation but they are also important historically. If we can keep as many of these skills around as possible then we will be able to better appreciate the woodsmen that came before us.

I totally agree. It's important to keep it in the proper context. I say, go make them and practice. Just, take them down before you leave so you don't kill someones dog or worse..
