CPK Gifting Story - Vegetable Knife

I recently decided to pass my vegetable knife (unused) on to my 96 year old neighbor, who seemingly is always chopping tons of vegetables. Everytime I see her (pretty much daily), she's standing in her kitchen chopping. I figured it would make her life a little bit easier, perhaps, though certainly not mine, since I'm the one who sharpens her 15 or so "kitchen" knives - and this one will require different attention than I pay to her others.

Hey, most her age are no longer around. Yet she still walks her dog on the beach every day. She still drives, and doesn't even scare me if I happen to be a passenger. At 96, she still fully manages a large number of rental properties she owns, most all with four bedrooms and a college student in each bedroom . I mention all of this only as background to explain why she is a steadfast believer in her own abilities, judgment - and opinions.

So when I presented her with her new extra special, highly coveted CPK kitchen knife, the first thing she said was something like "The last thing I need is another kitchen knife. I've got all I need and don't use half of them." Hey, it's hard to argue with a 96 yo who still has all that experience, and can argue it using her 26 yo mind. After 15 min of back and forth, I finally got her to agree to at least try it out. Though we talk daily, I waited a few days - until today - to check to see if she had, indeed, given it some use. If not, I knew she would have no problem giving it back (wishful thinking of the subconscious mind).

Instead, she had chopped, chopped, chopped and concluded it was the best vegetable knife she had ever wielded and thanked me profusely. This is a woman who can have anything she wants, but is now most in love with her CPK vegetable knife!

Bob good on you! I am glad that she appreciates Nate's work as much as we all do!

Great story Bob! What is she makin' with all those chopped veggies?

Pics?!

No pics, her house, her kitchen, I wouldn't even try to ask.

She makes tons of vegetable soup for relatives, neighbors, etc. And other stuff, too, I'd suppose.

Awesome story, I'm new to CPK and just picked up a few Field Knives. I can see why she likes her veggie knife. Reminds me of my Grandparents with their gardens and staying active. I love talking to our Seniors because they love to tell their life stories and some are amazing. Good for you Bob and it's always nice to hear positive stories these days.
