Cpm-154 Roll Call

Hey just thought it would throw this out there. I am a steel junky and I just realized I don't have a lot of CPM-154. I had it on a strider but it was but a little too chunky for my edc. I am looking for suggestions for a good blade with CPM-154 (not 154CM, it's different). I would only consider it if it was hardened to 60-61 and something with a nice fit and finish. Ti scales with a sebenza like thickness that sort of thing. I am a fan of custom so if someone knows a marker that favors this steel that would be helpful too!

I would just get excited if hinderer had a XM18 in CPM-154....ahhhh

I would love to hear some suggestions!

You need to get a custom I'd think if you want somthing that matches your specs. The are very few production knives that will give you the steel, much less the matching handle material and lock type. If you find something, let me know.

Yes, to get what you want, you will have to go custom. It's hard to find a production knife in CPM-154 heat treated to Rc 61. I had Ray Laconico make this one:

This one is S35VN, but he has used CPM-154, too.

Get a Buck 110 with CPM 154 blade. Knock the blade out of it , and drop it in a 560 Titanium handle using a #2X56TPI screw set.

If you can find someone willing to part with it the Buck 110 recently discoed but around is a best deal, along with the Blur. I'm not sure what the Blur is run at hardness wise but I'm pretty sure the Buck would hit the 60-61 mark easily. It's a sweet cutting knife, and my second favorite only beaten out by the also discoed BG42 custom 110. I have 2 of both and have not really considered selling either.

I have the blur as well, but the Buck is old school which I like, with a ( sort of) super steel high performing blade. It reminds me of the 1960's "sleeper " cars. Family cars like Impalas special ordered with 390hp 427 RAT big blocks. Nice surprise when kept low profile. :)

:)

I am a big fan of Robert Carter Knives. He just made me two with 154 CM 61 HC. He's pretty reasonable on prices too.

That Tim Galyean's Pro Series is beautiful!!

Lots and lots of custom folder makers use CPM-154, for good reason. I can almost guarantee they would be happy to run it at 60-61Rc, too. If you ask in the services wanted forum I'm sure you'll get some replies.
