Hi, i need some help finding a production folder in CPM-154 that is a lockback? I understand that there are Buck 110's in CPM-154, but i'm looking for something a little more modern looking and it doesn't seem exactly easy to obtain. The only other folder I've seen in CPM-154 is a Kershaw Blur, which seems like a nice knife but i'd prefer a lockback. Anyone know of any lockbacks, or any other folders in CPM-154?

Just to clarify, you are looking for either 154 CM or CPM 154, either will be fine? They are two different types. Maybe you knew that, but the way it was worded in your OP, it looks like one type.

Do you mean CPM 154 or 154CM? They are two different steels. CPM 154 is a powder metal made by Crucible, 154CM is a traditionally made steel. Both are very good with CPM 154 being a little better but regular 154CM seems to be used in much greater abundance.

Yeah I'm just talking about the CPM variety. I made the correction in my post.

The only profduction folder I am aware of that uses CPM-154 is the Kershaw Blur Burnt Orange and Green varieties.

Doesn't the production framelock Burke Rockstar use CPM-154 ???

Edit: I just skimmed over your request for a lockback folder. The above mentioned is a modern titanium framelock.

Was there a Buck Vantage in CPM-154? I seem to recall one, but you know how these things are... :o

Ya the only production folders I know of that use CPM-154 are the Blur and the Burke pro Rockstar. I highly recommend both however neither are a lockback.

Bass Pro Buck 110 and the aforementioned Blur are the only ones I can think of as well. .

5.11 has multiple series of knives made in it, many/most discontinued. I do know you can still buy the tactical investigator line, and if you look there should be others.

I've seen those 5.11 folders. They are pretty well made. I believe they're in the $75-100 range give or take.

I've seen them for significantly less myself. No deal spotting allowed, but if I lived in the City of Angels and was a member of the police, there might be a good online shop that would suit me ;).

The Bass Pro Buck Alpha Dorado uses the cpm 154..

The bottom line is you gain a huge increase in options if you open up to 154CM. Heat treated well, it's a fantastic EDC blade steel.

That said, I'd take a serious look at the Spyderco Manix 2 standard edition or the Hogue EX01's ;)

I do like 154cm very much i just wanted to give CPM 154 a go and I'm getting kinda tired of liner locks and frame locks and wanted to get a lockback but it seems there are not too many options in CPM 154, so i'll probably have to settle for something else.
