Greetings All:

Just finished this Loveless style Chute Knife in stabilized Claro Walnut with flame figure. The CPM-154FM is an experimental version of CPM-154CM. I'm really liking this version - it buffs up clean with a deep mirror, even when you bear down and really dog the metal with your 3600 RPM buffer/greem chrome. I'm not sure that this is the final designation for the blade steel but Niagra said the FM stands for "fine mesh". Nice job Niagra Specialty Metals and Crucible!

looks great tim ! from what i read the FM is not supposed to have any inclusions, which is a problem with the regular cpm 154. i am not sure if you have ever encountered that, but i sure have. did you notice anything different working with it ?

Hi John, Yes, I've had problems with inclusions in CPM-154CM......I was just finishing a $1200 knife and two inclusions showed during final buffing AND it was the fourth knife that had this problem out of eight. I was pissed and mentioned it on Instagram and said I was switching to RWL-34. Bob Sagala at Niagra Specialty Metals contacted me and asked if I'd try out this experimental run. From the two knives I've made, my experience so far is that I haven't encountered any inclusions and there is a deeper sheen to the metal when mirror finishing. I like it so far - BUY AMERICAN is my mantra. :)

Great looking knife, I have had some issues with small inclusions in the cpm154 as well.
