DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME. THIS IS KNIFE ABUSE!
Sometimes you screw up a knife. I am lucky I don’t very often anymore. Figured this was good time to show what I mean when I say my 3V is “high performance”, it's not just a marketing tag line.
This is a kanmuri Otashi tanto with a fairly fine point, just fyi.
This is knife abuse, I don’t recommend (or warranty) doing this with any knife ever. 4” of solid concrete.

Mostly the knife made me mad and I needed to release some anger on it. : )

The video may be hours long, but it would be fantastic to see it put through several more, progressively harder tests until ultimate failure. Point first into a concrete block is about as much as anyone can stomach, though :D

Concrete with about 3/8" granite aggregate, yeah insanely hard on a blade.
I finally got about an 1/8" of the very tip to break off after driving it in and prying it out several times.

All I can say is......Damn! I'd nvr do that but it is really impressive that your blades can withstand overt abuse. Looking forward to acquiring a piece from u soon.

Tough stuff that 3V - I'd bet a convex ground edge would hold up even better though your zero ground edge did pretty darn good :)

It was about .009” before I sharpened it.
A thick convex edge would hold up better maybe. But 3V can handle the thin edge geometry and it cuts so nice that way!

This is the one I did for James Williams. Essentially the exact same geometry/blade just longer. It’s a cutter.

I’ll take it :)

No, no, I heard JParanee doesn't really like cool knives. I also heard he can't cut, shoot (Bow or gun), fish, ride motorcycles or drive cars well either. (Or do other things well too* in my best Zoolander voice).

He should not get any more cool stuff......unless he adopts me...

Very impressive!

Ben makes a heck of a great knife. If you haven’t pick one up you should.

High quality at a good price.
