CPM-D2vs D2

Different process used to manufacture the steel, CPM steels have better alloy distribution(perhaps nearly ideal). With standard alloys like D2 it just gives you a very good version of that particular steel. Some super-high alloy steels like CPM420v and similar are virtually impossible ot make without a similar process, as I understand the result would be some brittle lump of carbides and cast iron.

I think it also gives better distribution of the carbides and makes those same carbides more uniform in size, which gives a sharper, longer lasting edge.

CPMD2 seems to me to take a nicer finer edge and can be stropped with better results than my other D2 blades which seem to need a more aggressive edge to make me happy.
