This knife was made as a special request from 5/32 inch CPM M4, polished sheep horn with stainless bolsters and pins. It has a 4 inch flat ground blade and is hand polished. The next one is going to cost a lot more than this one did. The next stop will be Jim Small for some engraving and then Coop for some pictures.

:eek:hand polished:eek:

Do you now have carpal tunnel? I heard this stuff was not fun to hand polish. Beautiful knife BTW.

As hard as this stuff is to polish, it is amazing how easily it scratches and how hard the scratches are to get out!

I'm loving those handle attachment pins. I think that they look great, and this knife is just made for engraving. Be neat to see the pins engraved a wee bit too.

I like it! But it is much more expensive steel and the number of belts you go through along with the time it takes to polish is really going to drive up the price of a knife made from M4.

When we work with the M4, we can really tell a difference in the wear resistance of the steel over CPM S30V or CPM 3V. I have heard people complain about how hard it is to sharpen D2 and CPM S30V....CPM M4 is definitely not for them. This is steel that it will be easier to keep sharp than to resharpen when it gets dull. Diamond stones will do it though. I haven't found any knife steel yet that they wouldn't turn into a grey smear.

All that being said, I don't think it is the blade steel for everyone or every knife. But it is good at what it does.

Harry,
I love that knife; a great job as always. Please post pics of it after it comes back from Coop.

Nice knife. I quite like sheep horn as a handle material.

Kind regards,

Jos
