This is my take on the Honesuki. 11" OAL with a 6.75" blade. The handle wood came from John Doyle. it's really cool curly Black Olivewood which I think is pretty rare. I paired it with some East Indian Ebony for bolsters and copper corby bolts and mosaics.
The blade is FFG with a 600 grit hand finish.

Nice Rob! You did a good job finishing that handle.

Thanks Michael! The curl in the black olive is subtle but really beautiful.

Knife looks fantastic! I must ask though... Are you certain of that wood description? Being a woodworking junkie myself, that looks like curly black walnut. I have a bunch myself and it looks exactly like that. Not saying I couldn't be wrong but I have never come across olive with grain structure like that. Olive wood is much tighter and that wood is very porous like walnut...

Thanks a lot!
Interesting observation and question about the wood. I'm not a wood expert by any means, but I purchased the handle material from John Doyle here on BF, it was labeled as Curly Black Olivewood. You could contact him about the origin of the wood. (He posted on this thread.)
