Have a few guardian tactical knives with cpm154 steel and if I leave them sit for a few weeks there will be some light rust spots on the blade. Is this normal with this steel? I store my knives in a drawer of my gladiator garage cabinet, wondering if I should store them inside the house to reduce the chance of humidity/moisture causing the blade to rust. Any ideas?

I only have one knife with cpm154, that I don t use.
I wasn't t aware that cpm154 rusted any more easily than 154 cm.

An untreated space is a bad place to store things you don’t want to rust. Temperature swings make metal things sweat. It’s just condensation on the cool metal.

Either oil the crap out of everything or bring them in the house.

So, the CPM 154 knives that you see rusting - are they lightly oiled or bone dry?

Especially in a sealed container without good ventilation and some desiccant or some means of drying the container they will rust. Temperature fluctuations, chemicals of many types and humidity are prime environment for rust and corrosion. Most stainless with a few exceptions will still rust in the right conditions. They aren’t rust proof, only more rust resistant than non stainless. Oil will help but I’ve even seen coated stainless develop some pitting left in storage containers for years. I don’t even store my knives in a sheath.
