I think I said the steel right, but does anyone know much about it?Is it a SS or CS,also does anyone have any experience with it?Is it easy to sharpen?Any info would be great.

It's stain-less (it will stain. I have a aus6 folder that rusted on me).
It's a tough piece, holds the edge quite long... a cousin to the CPM440V(known as the CPM60V/S60V now) and known to be the pain in the butt to sharpen. the CPM30V should be much easier to sharpen than the S60V.
Try the search function, I think you'll turn up a lot of info.

It's very stainless. I doubt you will get a properly heat treated S30V blade to rust very easily. I use a DMT diamond stone to sharpen my blades and it works very well. Edge holding is comparable to a carbon steel.

My Strider AR has an S30V blade, and I love it.

I have chopped wood, push cut wall anchors, stripped wire, cut up ceiling tiles, etc, with no signs of chipping or rolling, and stays sharp.
It also sharpens very easily using my sharpmaker..I can put a scalpel sharp edge on my AR, where it will easily slice arm hair in half off my arm. It's a great slicer, and it's the sharpest knife I own by far.

I love S30V.

Although S30V is a high chromium steel classifying it as stainless, it has a Carbon content of more than one percent, classifying it as Hi Carbon.............as with most of the knife steels used in our industry.......Over one percent carbon is what is called carbon steel. Lets get that straight. The new steels from Crucible are far superior to anything that has ever come down the pike, included those old rustable carbon steels that your grandpa swore by. We are in the golden age of knifemaking.

Tom: I swear one day I'll get you to make me on of your TNT in that steel ;)
It was strange that my Spyderco Ladybug rusted.. perhaps it was one of those very hot days that sweat got on the blade....

S30-V is the best balanced stainless cutlery steel on the market now or ever bar none! Has all the good properties, good stain resistance, great edgeholding and it is the toughest stainless I have ever worked with. It even chops concrete with the best of them! Whatever chopping concrete means...........

Awesome pics Mr. Simonich!I wish you could buy blades like that one in the pic,I mean no finish work or handles just good heat treated steel ready to use.I'm gonna have to take your word on the concrete chop though, cause I got one of your blades comin and I dont think I will be able to bring myself to try such a feat with such a pretty blade!
