The Consumer Product Saftety Commission has recalled all Spinmaster Aqua Dots toy products. The product contains a chemical which, if water is added -- and if you swallow something, water is added by definition -- turns into a potentially fatal poison.

This toy has been heavily promoted for Christmas. It's been sold at major retailers across the country including Target, K-mart, and other "big-box" retailers.

You absolutely have to get this toy out of the hands of your children.

The full information is here: http://64.182.49.239/

(I know that some will say that this belongs in Gadgets and Gear, but I don't think the death of a child is G&G. This is a genuine, red-alert emergency and needs the broadest possible exposure.)

Most of the people who bought these already will never see the alert. :(

At least we can provide it to our members.

There is a bead kit that the paint contains a chemical that with water turns into the GBH date rape drug.

Buy Chinese, Die Chinese. I would hope that with the common occurance of these nasty events the importing companies would test anything that was coming from China or face the full charges instead of blaming the manufacturer.

Are we at war with the Chinese or something, Because they seem to be trying to Kill us off one at a time. IMO

At this point, the CPSC and the new product development community is focused on just getting the word out on this.

Yes, the product was made in China. But, I don't yet know where it was designed, who decided to use this chemical formulation. That information will come out shortly, I'm sure.

For now, though, the goal is just to secure 4.5 million of these things and get them out of people's homes.

This, IMHO, trumps the tampered-Tylenol situation (which was what? 20 or 25 years ago?) as the most important recall ever.

Right now, fixing the problem is more important than fixing the blame.

I think this belongs both here and in Gadgets & Gear so I'll copy it over. People go to Gadgets & Gear to find out what toys to buy their kids....
