Calling Any Station (CQ) Calling Any Station (CQ) Calling Any Station (CQ)

This is from (DE) Ka7gen (Don't know that one) Who is calling me? (QRZ?)
Hope this helps :D

The QRZ? is just above the chart

I am [this was asked in another part of the forum recently] But sorry no code . AC2RC

used to be, I think my license has expired n9rrp.

The club where I used to live was great, they were friendly, had different activities, welcomed me in.

The club where I am now is not frienddly, and meetings consist of grumpy people sitting around a tape recorder hooked to loudspeakers to listen to a message from some ARL muckety muck. Repeater traffics is minimal.

I was a Coast Guard Radioman before HQ waved their magic wand and turned us all into Telecommunications Specialists. I worked CW, RATT, MF/HF/VHF Voice and landlines out of Commsta Kodiak/NOJ for a few years. We were always busy there with regular SAR/Medico traffic to spice up the day. I definitely enjoyed the work but not enough to do it in my spare time, so I never got a Ham license.

This link might be of interest.

Why was this thread moved to Gadgets and Gear. There's not a single gadget or gear mentioned in it anywhere??? I specifically put it in Community because the other thread (which did have some minor G&G content) got moved out of Community.

Grrrrr....

Exactly. And KA7QEN is my callsign.

I was tempted to title a post "How many people breathe air?" in community to see if it gets moved to G&G because air is a gadget.

:p

Thanks KAAK
Man you're everywhere on these forums aren't you :D

About 2 years ago I got all ready to take my licensing test. had 5 wpm on code and was already. Went to a local club meeting and they were almost hostile so I said screw it. But I think I'll brush up again and get it done. It has been a life long intention. I am in the second half so I better not wait any longer.

FCC has just issued a notice of proposed rules making to drop code requirements from all license classes.

N4DJC, licensed since 1979.
Had to look twice at that one! I thought I had already posted until I looked up at the username and realized the difference.
N4JDC (vanity obtained in '99...originally KD4AQY in '90)

John

John I was KA4JGV until upgraded to Tech with new 1 by 4, then upgraded to General in late '79. In those days we had to go to the FCC office in Atlanta to take the written exam unless an examiner was at a Hamfest. I thought the code was easy.

The vanity call signs can be confusing. I hear some calls I knew from years ago. Most are silent keys now and have gone on to their reward, their calls have been reissued.

We had a very active club that always welcomed newcomers. Cell phones and the internet have killed most of the amateur activity. The no code is fine, but I prefer the CW requirement for higher license classes.

kb1giv here. Havent used the radios now in several years. Maybe tiome to start again!!

Not a Ham, but an SWL'r for a while. Built a couple of SW radios and have a closet full of RG-58u, but that mostly gets used for making my own audio cables anymore.
