cqc 10 sharpening problems

i have 4 emersons a 10,16,raven and a 7 being Kreined into a spearpoint.

I can get all except the 10 sharp using Ernies diamond stick free hand

emthod. I using the corner of a fine Sharpmaker free hard. Any suggestions

to end my frustration. The 10 will slice paper but is not sharp likethe others.
 
Drop 10 bucks and get a round rod. Not trying to be a smartass, but I tried to make do with various sharpening equipment before and was never as happy with the result as I am with a simple round ceramic rod, and leather strop.

yes im feeling and lightly removing the burr. Im using legal pad cardboard after that.

What else can I do ??
 
Ten RInger got it!... Get a round rod and you will be set. I have been trying other methods on my mini comm, but getting that diamond rod will make all the difference.
 
I use a spyderco 303MF with the method of 5 passes on the beveld side and one on the other. My gets hair popping sharp in 3 minutes.:D i dont like diamonds, Ceramic is the way to go;)
 
Keep in mind that a rod, or stone, or whatever isn't even really needed unless the edge is uber dull or nicked/scratched up. A few swipes over a strop is all that you need in most cases to maintain a good edge. I bought mine (an old barbers strop) at a yardsale for 75 cents! :D
