Does anyone have a review of the CQC-10?

I've been looking for a quality, all-around folder for everyday, hiking, and survival use and have been looking at the CQC-10 because of the blade design, but I'm curious as to how the knife performs.

I do not have a review to offer from a mag. but can give you a personal experience with the CQC10. I bought one, opened and closed it about 200 times, disassembled the knife, cleaned it with a bore cleaner, oiled it and boy is it smooth. I took it to work and used it to cut Christmas lights off of a tree. It was one of those trees that come with the lights on it. Over 9 ft tall and several hundred lights were on it. Cutting for over an hour or so through coated copper wire and the blade was barely touched. I would say this is a pretty good test with great results for the CQC10. Buy one now! I bought mine through Scott at AutumnsEdge.Great pricing and a heck of a guy.

Any good, reliable websites for buying? All the ones I've checked out look like they haven't been updated since 1997

Go to AutumnsEdge and scan for Emerson. Scott has most of them on hand and if not,can get them soon. He will answer you promptly. If you contact him directly,he may have some special pricing as I know he does on the 8,Commander and Mini Commander. $117.95 for a Mini Commander shipped is a great deal. So, check him out on the cqc10.Savson Swords and knifes is also a great place to buy.

Does anyone have any pictures of their CQC-10 at work? I'd still like to see some size comparisons and other pics other than the "nice" pictures on Emerson's website and sale websites.

sci, Just buy one and use it! You are making it to hard on yourself. I promise you will like it. Go order one from Scott and enjoy it. It is not a small knife or a real big one.It will do what you want for the most part. Just do not use this or any of them knives as pry bars.

MPE's right. You'll never stop carrying the 10. I've had one for several years and it's been a great user. Actually went through two of them, as a friend of mine liked it so much he bought it from me. Gave me the chance for a new one. He torchard the other, but it's still going strong as far as I know. Very solid knives. The ergonomics are fantastic!
;)

I have a -10, IMO it's one of the best all-around designs Emerson offers. Very no-nonsense. Feels very good in the hand. I keep the hinge a bit on the tight side to avoid sideplay, but really, it's probably not necessary to keep it as tight as I do.

I just got one this week, and it it great. The ergo's are really fantastic. I love how it feels in the hand, and the wave on mine works really well. If you think you might like it, then get it.

An 8 or a 10 ? My question is which knife is best for EDC? On the 8 does the thumb stud get in the way of the wave feature?

Well, my CQC-8 came in... to compare the two...

The Wave seems to work equally well on each knife. I say that, because the clip on the CQC-8 is insanely tight, and that makes for some interesting draws! I would rather have it too tight then too loose and I am sure it will loosen up. The wave on the CQC-8 is designed differently. It almost looks more like a bent nipple then a hook (on the CQC-10).

Besides that... here a a few things to compare. The 8 is a bit larger, not that much, but it still larger. I prefer the ergo's of the 10, however the 8 is not too bad in that department. The 10 is a spear point... good at poking into things, the 8 has more of a clip point, or in other words, more belly near the tip. Some might find that more useful. I think in regards to this, I prefer the 8. If you are not using the wave to open, I prefer the disk of the 8, to the oval of the 10. Both came very sharp. Both came with perfectly functioning liner locks.

I give a slight nod to the CQC-8 for EDC (for me that is) at the moment. However if you prefer a spear point, and great ergo's... then I think you will be nothing but happy with the CQC-10.

Next up for me, is the CQC-11...

I don't have an '8...yet. But I do have a '10 and an '11. They are both great knives. The '10 gets a majority of EDC time. The '11 is a LARGE knife, but the ergos are such that it still fits well in my hand. Here are some pics. Hope this post helps.
