Hi guys, i recently bought an Emerson Cqc 11 dated 2007. Everything is fine for me except for the position of the thumb plate. When i want to manually open this knife, my thumb slips off the thumbplate to the side of the blade and out of it. It's this 'gap' that's causing the problem. I have a Cqc 13 and the 'gap' is much smaller so i don't have difficulty opening it. Here's a pic to show what i mean:

So, is it just that i have small thumb/small hands, or is this a design fault? Anyone out there facing this same problem?

I have a CQC11. It flips fine. Use the side of the thumb disc not the bottom of the disc. The trick is to push almost strait up on the bottom edge (the checkered part) of the disc as you flip your wrist.

Or just flip it with your wrist, the factory detent isn't that strong anyways.

It has a slightly larger gap as you pointed out. That is not a design flaw. You simply have to train with it to get used to it and build muscle memory, just like if you switch from a glock to a sig to a hk. Each one required different muscle memory for the controls.
