I have two of these, one a PE the other CE. It is one of my favorite EKI designs, but I noticed that it has been discontinued. Was this design unpopular? Am I an "oddball" for really liking it? Who else likes this design? Just curious.

The CQC-11 is my favorite Emerson design so far. I believe the CQC-11 was a design made for Blackhawk and that's why not as many were made as his other knives. As far as popularity goes, I know they sell pretty quickly when ever they come up on the exchange or on ebay. I had to wait a couple of months before i was lucky enough to buy one from another member on the forum. I hope this helps.

An old friend of mine has one of these, and he still carries it every day. It's definitely one of Emerson's nicer pieces, but I think it's a bit too big for general EDC. As to why they've been doscontinued for so long, I've no clue. Perhaps Ernie will chime in and let us know.

One of mine (the CE one) has BLACKHAWK printed on the blade, the PE just has the usual Emerson markings. Both are up there close to the Commander model as one of my favorite knives.

I don't think they're discontinued for good - simply Emerson has limited capacity and so many production runs . I [had] a 2010 made one - should never have sent it to get pimped if I knew I wasn't going to see it for two years. I like it, but I have enough recurves in my collection - but I won't get rid of it unless I come across a SOFCK-A.

Who in the world kept your knife for 2 years?

Wow..but I can't say that I haven't seen similar behavior out of a self-proclaimed 'knifesmith' before though. The rip-off artists are out there.

Thing that sucks is this guy had only good feedback before things went south (though that isn't entirely accurate - he had problems on another private forum and conveniently, none of that made it out to this forum or JD until months later when things became serious).
