Well, I just got my cqc-12 today in the mail. Bought it used but the only thing not perfectly new is the clip. $150.00. Couldn't resist.
Anyhow, I was thinking about dedicating it to work purposes. (BY the way, I bought a Millitary for work, it had a loose lock, I sent it in, and now it's lost:confused: :grumpy:  ). So it's between this cqc-12 and a cqc-13. Both are mint, and I have a collection that I keep that way. Since both are so similar, I figured I'd use the hell outta one. The question is, should I keep the 13 fresh, it's got a slightly weaker tip too, or do I switch the clips and keep the more valuable knife in the "collection"? -Opinions please.

By the way, I also have a cf Millitary in my collection, so, if my regular one is found I'll end up with two of them. Opition 3 would be to keep using one of my beat to hell Enduras for work and wait to see if the Milli ever shows up.

Why have knives that will never get used? They are after all only production knives too.

Well, it's a collection that I keep un-used. I have about 15 or so knives that all cost about the same amount, are all about the same size, are all about the same quality, and that I admire all about the same. They are all basically weapons as well. I don't need to use weapons very often. So, I see it as unnessisary to carry all of them. I just pick what I feel to be the best knives to carry for thier perticular tasks, and use those. Most knives I like enough to carry, I try to buy two of.
I guess, to me, there can be only one "best of the knives" outta however many knives you're talking. -I wouldn't want to carry anything less. I've just been having some problems trying to dedicate one to work. But think it'll be the comrade at this point.

i have a lot of knives i neither use nor carry, its called collecting lol. and some are custom but a lot are production too, production doesnt equal cheap lol, check out microtech autos for one, heck the EKI CQC12 isnt cheap by any means, the MSRP is close to $300 i bet.

if i was gonna use it fairly hard i would probably use the '13 for that and keep the '12 for "dress" use myself, or carry the more heavy duty '12 and keep the '13 for the collection?? just depends on what ya wanna do, $150 is a good price for a '12, i presume its the Ti/G10 version correct? the '12 is a lot better knife than a '13 FWIW imho anyway, i had a '13 for a while and it was ok but i really like the '12 esp the all ti '12 which is so hard to find.

Yep, half g-10. And the price on the box is $293.95. It's coming to work with me today. This seems like an awesome knife, and I'ma see how well it holds up over time with some general/medium use. -Pretty sure it'll do just fine.

I keep saying I'll buy no more production knives and save up for more custom blades. But for every custom I buy five production knives just because they have a slightly different blade shape or steel etc. I buy knives mostly because they are there.

On Sat. night I stabbed the cqc12 into a car (truck) door three times. It was an old truck. Late 70's, mid. 80's maybe. Anyways, The door was much thicker than I thought it would be. The first stab took about 1/8 to 1/4 off the tip. Pretty sure the next stab actually had more penitration than the first Surprisingly. And then once more. Overall though peritration wasn't as deep as I expected. I stabbed another car door with a vaquaro grande with deeper penitration a long time ago. I was stabbing this door in a reverse grip with the bladeforward. Average depth was alittle over 1/4'' to maybe a half. Overall, I'd say the knife did good. Still having a tip would be nice, but... It's still fixable with an overall loss of around a 1/4" or so. The knife is still quite usable and still has some point to it. It's been decicated as a work knife, by the way.

What work do you do???

Just breakin her in. (the knife)
I just now realized that every knife I carry, I end up breaking the tip off one way or another. -That has no direct reference to what I did with/to the comrade.
