CQC-13 hard use test

I agree. I was actually (hate to admit it) a little surprised that it did so well.
 
I'm surprised too. I used mine for similar tasks and it literally broke apart. Fractured stop pin, liner lock failure, etc.

That surprises me even more. Was yours one of the earlier versions with the equal thickness (or, should I say, equal thin-ness) liners? The new ones are beefed up on the locking side.
 
Mine was an earlier 13, but it had what I'd call medium liners. Not as thin as some were, but not as thick as the current 13 is. The cracked stop pin on mine surprised me alot too since it was thick also. The liner on mine actually deformed a fair bit. I've beat various CQC-7's and Commanders fairly hard and had a cracked stop pin on a Commander, but never had an Emerson die like that 13 did on me!

the tested knife is from 2005 and has the thin liners.
