Any opinions and or good/bad experiences with this model? This is my first Emerson. Out of the box it seems kind of stiff on opening and closing, is this normal?

Thanks

Unfortunately yes its fairly normal for a new Emerson to be rather gritty, rough and needing a good break in before it smooths out. Its not uncommon for the locks to stick and bind at the blade contact. Some can be very sticky and I've owned several that way.

The good news is that once it breaks in it will be a whole different knife.

I'm carrying my CQC-13 exclusively these days and it is a very smooth folder; it took some time but that's part of Emerson Knives. If your lock is sticking you can rub some pencil on the contact area to lubricate it. Also, a quick disassembly and cleaning followed by some light lubrication helps.
