I love both of these designs, the CQC-13 and the Horseman (mini-CQC-8) but which one do you prefer and why?

Mini CQC-8. Bigger isn't always better. = ) Besides, next to the 15, the CQC-8 and its Mini are my favorite Emersons.

CQC 8 is awesome, every size, btw i never handled a 13 but im eyeballing with it. they have a huge difference in size, i think you should decide how big knife u really need...

The only size that matters is the size of your hand. I have rather large hands, and the 13 fits me better. The mini 8 is much smaller and twists easier in my hand. Imo you are comparing apples and oranges though, its like, which do u like better, the la griffe, or the super karambit

don't know the specs, all i know is that if you have big mitts, the 13 WILL fit you better. i did measure my hand (strange, i know) and found it to be 4.25in wide and 8.5in from wrist to tip of middle finger. if your hands are that size or bigger, the 13 should feel like its welded to you.

Thanks for the info. I think the 13 might be too big for me. My hand is definitely smaller than yours. For a point of reference, the Combat Karambit fits my hand perfectly, so I'm guessing from that the 13 would be too big. Oh well, it sure is a beautiful knife.

my '13s are my favorite EKI liner locks, i like the blade grind and the handle ergo's, the '8 is also a good 1 though, but i dont care for "mini" anythings, i can carry up to 5.5" legally and though i rarely go over 4" or so anymore i never ever carry mini's.

if for some unkown reason i wanted a smaller knife i would get either a mini '7, mini commander or a MT mini socom elite w/a framelock.

I'm biased, 'cause it's the only one I own, so far.... but,
