Hopefully you see the pic of the new cqc-15 prototype, pretty awesome right? Now this is the custom version, but I called EKI, and the person I talked to said both the production version of the cqc-14 and the cqc-15 will be in the line eventually but didn't say when. Anyway I just wanted any of you guys who haven't seen it yet to see it. I haven't seen the cqc-14 yet though. Have any of you? If so, how about some details?

well that didn't work. if someone could let me know what I did wrong I'll put the picture in...thanks

That 15 looks nice! I have seen the 14, but I don't think it looks as good as the 15. The 14 reminds me of a cross between a cqc-10 and a cqc-11.

How so, bigger, smaller. blade shape of one or the other?

It is smaller. I think the specs are: 7.5" total, 2.75" blade, with a V-grind.

The overall shape of the knife is what looks like a cross between a 10 and an 11, at least to me:

Good evening gentlemen:

Last January I had a long and fruitful conversation with Ernest Emerson. We started our conversation about the P-SARK, and the misprints concerning the length of the blade in the catalog/web site. During that conversation I pointed out to Ernest that what is missing in the Emerson line is a strong knife with a short blade and a large handle. Ernest listened and said that I had a point and that I should come buy at the Emerson booth at the Shot Show in Las Vegas in February.
So I stopped by at both Emerson booths at the Shot Show. Ernest took me aside and said that my point about the “strong knife with a short blade and a large handle” struck a cord with him. And he showed me a prototype of the CQC-14 Snub-Nose and asked if I had something like this in mind? My response was “Yes, that is exactly what I envisioned.” Ernest continued by saying that as a thank you for inspiring him for the CQC-14 Snub-Nose he would give me the prototype as a present. Needless to say I was speechless.
When we parted he said he wished I will never have to use the CQC-14 Snub-Nose to defend my family or myself.
My prototype of the CQC-14 Snub-Nose is very similar to the one above. I obviously have pictures but do not know how to post.
Ernest Emerson is a true gentleman who not only listens to his customers but is also very generous.

Regards,
FRIZ

The one I saw didn't have bolsters. But I like both. I think this prototype is probably one of the earlier ones.

By the way. Congrats Friz. That is a truly wonderful gift you recieved. I know it floored you when that happened. I think I'd have cried big tears right there on the show room floor if something like that happened to me. Getting a gift like that is unique and quite a blessing but getting one from a man of Ernie Emerson's rep and character is really above and beyond anyone's dreams IMO.

That's just what I was looking for in an Emerson Knife..thanks FRIZ can't wait until it's offered to the public.

Just so everyone is aware, the CQC14 will come with two blade lengths. One full length, and one snub nose.

VENT...

I need an emerson knife with a 2.5 inch blade :grumpy:
These damn city ordinances are popping up everywhere around here :jerkit:
friggin' Massachusetts :thumbdn:

someone robbed a local store around here with a hammer recently, they should ban those next... and maybe screwdrivers

IIRC its a custom only so it wont be a production knife, save your $$ if ya want one.

The '14 is a folding PUK.

SIFU,
Respectfully, I seem to be hearing some rumbling that the '14 at least will be a production-grade version. I remember someone mentioning that (at the least) there will be a 2-slab titanium framelock limited release production version in addition to the G10/liner version shown above.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's one damn ugly knife, but none of my keepers are gonna win beauty contests.... I keep 'em 'cause they WORK.

;)

(I don't know/haven't heard a word about the '15.)
