Just got my CQC-14 from NGK. First one I've had in about 10 years. It's a nice knife. I will say the edge is assymetrical. Are all the emerson v grinds like that? It's not extreme as say a chisel, but there is a distinct difference. It came sharp and so far seems to be a great little knife, errr not little but little bladed. I think this has convinced me to order a 12 and maybe a 15 also. Everyone comments on how big it is and never even realizes it is much smaller than most of my other folders blade wise. Overall, I would reccomend it highly if you need a knife under 3", which I don't, but otherwise it fits in the pocket about the same as a full size emerson.

my mini commander and reg commander have the irregular edge..I find it holds up rather well for being kinda unconventional. when i first noticed it i thought something was messed up with them....the 14 is one of their models that i want to get my hands on with the new 15

They are all the way yours is. Its an Ernie thing. You can do it the conventional way once it needs sharpened with little problem. I think a lot of folks do just that to be honest. At least with the V grind models.

I got a 14 myself right after it came out. Harry, (the same Harry mentioned in the add on the Emerson site for the 14) is a very good friend of mine. I bought it in his honor for giving Ernie the idea.

Had it for a while, sold it and then wanted another. I finally took the Wave off of mine and converted it to a frame lock. Its a beast of a knife now but I never did like the Wave on mine. It never worked right for me compared to other Emerson models and then it caught my pocket and opened half way all the time when I didn't want it to work. Honestly after cutting myself on it that was it and I cut off the Wave with a cut off disc, bead blasted the entire blade after cutting new finger grooves in the spine and love it much more now. I wish he offered it this way personally but I know some will strongly disagree. I can get a much better thumb purchase on the blade behind it to cut now vs what it had before with the Wave poking me.

Whatever though. I'm happy with it.

very nice..i just got my hands on a lefty commander...im in love..i wish he would make a run of cqc7s lefty..but for now having the clip holes redrilled lefty is working fine

Nice framelock conversion, STR. I've got the CQC-14 too. It's a strange knife, but it's a keeper.
