Greetings,

I have recently purchased an Emerson CQC-15 serrated folder and I love it, especially the wave opening method and the knife as a whole. I have a slight difficulty closing the knife at times after deploying it even when using one hand to hold the knife and the tip of the thumb nail of the other hand to close it. The locking mechanism has a tendency to be . Is that normal? Can I do anything about this? Also there is a screw which holds the blad to the handle. Do you recommend ajdusting that?

Thank you kindly,

Tony

Grats on your 15! That is my far my fave. I have a custom 15.

do you mean the lock is sticky? that is sort of a good thing sometimes as long as its not too sticky.

You can ajust the pivot screw if the knife's action loosens up too much. other than that I would leave it alone.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the lock is too sticky when i deploy the knife out of my pocket and it opens forcefully. It sticks and would have to press the liner lock with the thumbnail hard to cause it to unlock. I bought it from KnifeSupply.com on the web. I am thinking about returning it and getting a cqc-8 or Horseman. It looks like from pics of these that there is a deeper curve on the handle to be able to activate the lock to close the knife.

i read about the horseman being a smaller version of the cqc-8 and more manageable when kept in a jeans pocket as far as comfort.

I've heard of putting pencil on the tang of the blade, to act as a small amount of lubrication, to help unlock the liner lock.

I've had a liner lock which disengaged too easily, so the opposite may not be a bad thing : )

I'd try some lubricant on the contact area to see if helps at all.

The locks do tend to gaul when new but once the Ti wears in you will be good to go.

You can indeed use a bit of pencil (graphite) on the tang to help lube it up untill it wears in
..... or you can just open and close the knife 100 times :p
